We rely on apple cider vinegar on our farm. Buuuttt…I have some hard and fast rules when it comes to this magic liquid. 

I’ll tell you one right now: I think homemade apple cider vinegar is the best there is.

  1. My husband is fairly new to raising back yard chickens and we are both on disability and money is a hard issues so we have had to learn by me reading on the FB and internet . Thank you for any information you can give us on why ASV is good for chickens . We have had a very rough time of it , we have been fighting off Racoons, possum’s and have loss a lot of ours . He has done a amazing job with the area that we have and has constructed a nice pen closed in .We now only have 5 hens and are Americanos
    Of which lol my husband does care for but they were a gift from our Daughter in law after we loss the ones we had from Racoons . We live in the city . I love watching the girls as they walk around . If you could help us with our girls that would be a blessing .

  2. I have pretty good luck with using a electric fence. A wire on top and bottom of fence,also around coop. I have lots of raccoons and possums but in 1 year so far so good. Hope this helps.

  3. I really enjoy reading all about how to care for my chickens, my husband pasted away and we lost the chickens to raccoons and other predators. So I got new baby chicks and raised them and did not loose any, and they are doing fine thanks to my husband and also your help,, because alot of stuff my husband did not do,,,, so thank you for the extra help.

    2. Barbara I lost my wife it is hard but life goes on my chickens seem to be some salvation I think I take better care of them now.

  4. This sounds very interesting.. vinegar is good for so many things . Not sure what it does for chickens.
